The Chatham Islands sit 800km east of the mainland with about 600 residents across two inhabited islands. Like Stewart Island, there are no bank branches - just a single bank agency. The Chathams operate on their own timezone, 45 minutes ahead of NZ. This means when a new UTC day starts, Chatham Islanders see it before anyone else in the country.
