The NZ P2P Crypto Marketplace is a Discord server established in April 2021 by Harry Satoshi, providing a space for New Zealanders to find and communicate with person-to-person crypto buyers and sellers. It originated from the Buy & Sell Cryptocurrency NZ Facebook group and migrated to Discord for improved functionality and localisation.

P2P trading carries a high scam risk, and this applies to new members by default, not as an exception. Understanding how P2P trading works, the common scam patterns, and the server's rules before joining will significantly reduce that risk.
Impersonation is common in this environment - scammers pose as admins, moderators, or well-known members, sometimes using lookalike names and avatars, and contact new joiners directly with fake verification requests, fake "support," or urgent trade offers. Treating any unsolicited DM as a potential scam until verified is the safest default, including messages that appear to come from known community figures (impersonation of the handle Aoraki_RangerNZ specifically has been reported).
