Swyftx has begun migrating Easy Crypto customers to its platform following the March 2025 acquisition that combined the two operations into a larger entity serving over 1.1 million users across Australasia.
Swyftx Secures NZ Bank Account
Swyftx has secured direct local banking in New Zealand through KiwiBank, enabling direct deposits and withdrawals in NZD.
Paul Quickenden, Swyftx’s Head of NZ described it as significant.
"Being able to offer direct deposits and withdrawals is a big deal for us and the country," Quickenden wrote in correspondence.
"For our NZ customers, this simply means Swyftx offers the fastest and most secure way to move between NZD and digital assets."
The Scarcity of an NZ Crypto Bank Account
When asked about challenges faced in securing the account, he noted that banking arrangements are assessed case by case. In the country, lack of banking access restricts many companies from operating here.
Quickenden hoped the examples set by Swyftx and Easy Crypto would prompt more banks to work with crypto firms. "The bar is high in terms of compliance, security and scam prevention," he said.
As of 2026, several world class exchanges have failed to secure banking to compete in the country. Other local service providers and new startups are currently in bank account standstill due to the issue.
